
My running and racing background
Although I ran a bit at school, I very much fell out of the habit in my late teens and early 20s. After graduating from university, I was inspired by my brother to sign up for a marathon. I did the training and eventually went on to run that marathon in spring of 2013.
From then on, I became more fascinated with running and more driven to keep improving. It's this drive for improvement that I really want to help cultivate in my athletes, because this is probably the most rewarding part of running. And improvement does not necessarily mean faster times. It could mean more consistency, less discomfort, longer distances or more enjoyment in your running.
For me, many of my best memories from running are of long days out in the hills with friends. But of course, I train not only for the sake of improvement and spending time with friends, but also to compete. Racing provides an environment that can bring out the best and worst in us, and both experiences can be valuable. Here are some of the races I've done over the years:
